Veronica Valli and I (8) discuss Step 3

So Veronica and I got together on Skype to continue our discussions about the 12 steps today discussing Step 3.

As a reminder Step 3 reads: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives to the care of God as we understood him.

This is an in-depth discussion on what Step 3 actually means and how to apply it to your life. It’s an easy and straight-forward step that is immediately followed by the Step 4 inventory which I’ll post up in two weeks.

As you hear in the discussion I get caught up in the semantics of GOD but she says that this can mean Group of Drunks or Good Orderly Direction – both of which are true of where I came from and what I am now trying to achieve.

We’ll be back in two weeks to discuss Step 4 🙂

  1. I love that idea of being the best person you can be – it’s incredibly simple and yet so powerful. Why would anyone want to be anything else? And yet, how on earth was I ever going to be the best that I could be sat on the sofa drinking a bottle of wine every night? I still don’t know what me at my best looks like – and it may take a lifetime to work out – but I certainly know that it’s not that woman on the sofa hiding in her wine.

    1. Hey MTM – Veronica explains it so well doesn’t she? I agree, why would we want to be anything else and if it takes a lifetime to figure out what that means so be it! 🙂

  2. More to Me and I could be twins. I, too, haven’t figured it all out yet, but sitting on the couch drinking wine every night was my worst not my best.

  3. Hi Lucy, I really am looking forward to watching these interviews but I have not had the time quite yet. I don’t go to AA but I’d love to learn all about the steps and possibly work through them a bit on my own. At the end of all the steps, will they be compiled in one place on your blog? Thank you for doing these!

    1. Hey Mallards! If you open the tab that says ‘Interviews’ they are all there 🙂

  4. Great discussion as always 🙂 “Being the best person you can be” we’re changing our lives for the better! xx
