I’ve blatantly copied the image off the Belvoir site (http://www.belvoirfruitfarms.co.uk/) as this is far better than any picture I can conjure up! We are going to our village Christmas carol concert today and they will be offering mulled wine and mince pies. The only thing we can possibly have tonight is therefore mulled winter punch 🙂
This contains red grape juice, elderberry juice, blackcurrant juice and orange juice spiced up with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Pour and gently warm in a pan and serve or serve in a mug and microwave for a lovely winter warmer.
So after my tussle with Brad Pitt I took him to bed (I wish 😉 ) and chocolate, herbal tea and an early night saved the day.
While I was dealing with the demon drink hubby was out at an open mic night at a local pub. As you know he drank like me and so we have stopped together (in fact he is a week ahead of me!) While at the pub he asked at the bar for a pint of blackcurrant. The bar staff did a double take and said sorry can you repeat that to which he did. The barman then said would you like that with cider? (for my non UK readers cider and blackcurrant is a popular drink here, and if served with lager too is known as snakebite or Diesel). No hubby said – just blackcurrant and water, which cost him 60p!
The reason for sharing this anecdote is that, okay it was a pub, but drinking something non-alcoholic is the last thing considered here it would seem and is expensive compared to the alcoholic equivalent.
Tonight we’re off to a fireworks party to celebrate Guy Fawke’s night and there will be mulled wine everywhere. We’ll be drinking tea 🙂
